Sliding Shower Chair

I placed this sliding shower chair in the bathroom of my parents, and it has been really satisfying to see the dramatic increase in both their self-assurance and their level of comfort. In the past, getting into and out of the bathtub was a dangerous process that required the assistance of two people. My father would carefully lower himself into the tub, and my mother would support him from behind. Now that the bench is in position, all he has to do is glide over the broad seat, rotate his body through thirty-four degrees, and then ease himself into the water without giving it a second thought. A routine that used to cause tension has been transformed into a smooth and dignified experience just by virtue of its easy mobility. In less than 10 minutes, the transfer bench was installed and ready for use. My dad was sat on the edge of the tub, and I was able to modify the height of the chair such that it properly matched his posture via the use of the adjustable legs that snapped firmly into place. The next step was to fine-tune the arm breadth; each arm was flung outside, snapped into the correct distance, and immediately felt solid beneath his grasp. Because this bench was able to adjust to his body proportions in such a way that gave him the impression that it was constructed just for him, he did not have to struggle with a chair that was designed to accommodate everyone.

This sliding shower chair was a lifesaver after hip replacement surgery!

I bought this sliding shower seat to help care for my aunt after her hip replacement surgery, and it honestly was one of the most helpful things we couldve had during her recovery. It made getting her in and out of the tub so much safer and easier for both of us. The seat swivels with a one touch button and slides smoothly, which meant less strain on her and less worry for me while helping her with personal care. I didn't worry about her falling off the seat since it has handles to steady herself. This seat is incredibly sturdy and the 450 lb weight limit gave us peace of mind. It really does feel solid and well built unlike some of the previous ones we've tried that have a hollow plastic seat. The frame is made of aluminum, so no rusting even though it gets wet daily in the shower. The padded seat is comfortable and easy to clean, and it was quick to assemble right out of the box. I think it took me less than 15 minutes all together. If youre caring for someone with limited mobility or recovering from surgery I cant recommend this enough. It gave us both more confidence and independence during an already stressful time when caring for her after surgery.

If you're short your feet won't touch the floor sitting down on the unit

My wife is short and even at the lowest level her feet won't touch the floor. I'm going to have to figure out a way to shorten the legs about an inch and a half.
